This past Tuesday (June 19), Duff McKagan accomplished something he failed to do more than thirty years ago: graduate from high school. The former Guns N’ Roses bassist received an honorary diploma after giving a speech at Roosevelt High School’s 2012 graduation ceremony in Seattle. “Finally got my High School diploma today. I did the not-so-popular 48year plan,” McKagan joked via Twitter, also including a picture of his newly earned diploma (as seen above).
As you may recall, Duff actually took a few finance courses at Santa Monica Community College back in 1994, and enrolled in Seattle University’s Albers School of Business in 2000. He’s since gone one to become a financial rock guru (having penned his own financial column for Playboy Magazine called “Duffonomics” and launching his own money management firm). So we have to admit that we were a little surprised that McKagan had yet to receive his high school diploma (or, for that matter, that honorary high school diplomas were even given out). But hey, guess he’s proof that’s never too late (even if it takes longer than Chinese Democracy’s release). Congrats McKagan, maybe you can use your diploma to figure out what’s going on with Velvet Revolver.
