Did Metallica rip off Crowbar’s artwork? Kirk Windstein weighs in

If, like us, the first thing you thought when you saw the artwork to Metallica’s forthcoming Hardwired… To Self Destruct, was “wow, that’s pretty damn ugly artwork. However, the second thing you might have thought could have been “haven’t I seen that somewhere before?” It took about as long for some people to think that the artwork looked inspired by Crowbar’s 1998 opus Odd Fellows Rest as it did for others to learn how to play the song and upload a video of it. In fact, it didn’t take long for Crowbar’s Kirk Windstein to offer his opinion on the alleged album art plagiarism via he and his wife’s Facebook page:

So there you have it. At the very least, if Metallica is ripping off anyone, from the sound of “Hardwired,” it’s themselves on Kill ‘Em All, which we’re perfectly ok with. Also, Crowbar should have an album out this year as well, so maybe the two can tour together?
