There’s a new TesseracT album coming soon, and in advance of Polaris, their first album on eOne (via KScope), the band are premiering the first track from it, “Messenger,” via a lyric video on Billboard.com. If the new song gives you a sense of deja vu, it’s because the new vocalist is the band’s original singer, Dan Tompkins, who returned to the band in 2014. He last sang on the band’s first album, One. Here’s what he said about the video and track:
“The concept of our new album, ‘Polaris’ is simple; it is about the transient nature of universal truth. There is no such thing as an absolute fixed human concept that will forever be the truth. Perhaps that is a message most of us can’t or don’t want to listen to but ‘Messenger’ highlights an ever growing awakening from the onslaught of the social conditioning we’re exposed to everyday from the media. The truth constantly obscured and the public subdued by ‘Casting fear into doubt’”
The song is pretty much what you’d expect from the UK prog act (are we allowed to call them post-djent?). It’s melodic and slightly heavy, and contains what bassist Amos Williams calls a “big, soaring chorus and musical zenith that has become synonymous with the TesseracT vie, but is also quite punchy.”
Polaris will be released on September 18th on eOne. It can be preordered here.
