Ghost_Reveries_(Opeth)_album_coverIt’s hard to believe it, but Opeth have been playing their unique blend of death metal and ’70s prog for 25 years now, having formed in Stockholm in 1990. And to commemorate their 25th anniversary, they’re celebrating in style, having announced two shows in the U.S. in October. The band will play on both coasts, hitting New York City’s Beacon Theater on Thursday, October 22nd and Los Angeles’ Orpheum Theater on Saturday, October 24th.

Both shows will features two sets, with one of them being the band’s 2005 album, Ghost Reveries, in its entirety. If you’ll remember, they did the same thing for Blackwater Park‘s 10th anniversary back in 2010. So while the band might have dropped a lot of the death metal influence and heaviness on their recent albums, at least they’ll be revisiting it for two nights by playing Ghost Reveries.  Tickets go on sale for the shows this Friday, May 1 at 10am local time.
