Last year’s GWAR B-Q was the most emotional and biggest one yet. The band’s first show without their leader Oderus Urungus was preceded by a memorial service for him that brought tears to many in attendance, but it was nothing compared to the show itself, which found many openly sobbing as the band played “The Road Behind.” Excellent sets from Body Count, Hatebreed, Iron Reagan, the Misfits, the Meatmen and many more were also cathartic. Of course, the show will go on this year, and now we know when it’s going to happen. The 6th Annual GWAR B-Q will take place on Saturday, August 15th at Hadad’s Lake (7900 Osborne Turnpike Richmond VA). This will mark the band’s 30th year of existence.
While no bands have been announced yet, the lineup will certainly include a set from GWAR, and last year’s lineup set the bar pretty high. They’re promising that there will be three days worth of events in and around Richmond in addition to the event itself. The GWAR Bar will certainly play a part, with the Sunday brunch being held there. You can find out more information here.
