mick thomsonNeedless to say, it hasn’t been a great month for Mick Thomson, who was arrested and sent to the hospital after getting stabbed in the head by his brother. While the Slipknot guitarist is supposedly doing fine after the altercation, now he’s reportedly getting charged with disorderly conduct.

According to The Des Moines Register, a police investigation concluded that both the guitarist (real name Mickael Thomson) and his brother Andrew were both responsible for the March 11 assault, which hospitalized both of them. Police were dispatched to Mick’s home after receiving reports that the two brothers had been fighting, which reportedly started inside the home and then moved outside where the brothers began physically fighting. When they arrived on scene, police noted that both brothers seemed to be intoxicated and had sustained injuries from the fight (including Mick’s stab wound on the back of his head).

Both have been charged with disorderly conduct by fighting. The brothers (who declined to seek charges against each other) were booked and released on a promise they will appear in court March 30. It remains unclear how or if these recent events will affect Thomson’s involvement in Slipknot’s upcoming plans (including a massive summer tour). Under Iowa’s laws, though, the crime of disorderly conduct is a simple misdemeanor punishable by up to 30 days in jail, a fine of $65 to $625, or both. Meaning Thomson might not be out of commission for too long (barring any other surprises that may arise… which frankly at this point, wouldn’t be all that surprising).
