halltallicaEveryone’s got a few guilty pleasures when it comes to music, but for the Metal Insider crew, Hall & Oates isn’t one of them. The ’70s and ’80s yacht rock duo wrote some jams that still stand up today, even if they’re not even remotely metal. And even if they’re mashed up with Metallica. We’re not sure why it took so long, but mashup artist Neil Cicierga decided to combine “Enter Sandman” with the band’s “I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do).” It shouldn’t work as well as it does, but “I Can’t Enter That (No Sandman)” genius. It’s really jarring to hear Hetfield’s voice come in over the smooth rock of H&O’s 1981 hit. The best part is the “hush little baby” spoken word part over the sax solo and Hetfield’s “oohyeahahaa”s over the end.

We first wrote about Cicierga last year, when he mashed up System of a Down’s “Chop Suey” with Elton John’s “Crocodile Rock.” This isn’t as jarring as that, but like that one, neither song should exist in a normal world together, and somehow he makes it perfect.
