Following in the footsteps of bands like KISS, Warrant and Motorhead, Blind Guardian is now breaking into the alcoholic beverage business. The band has recently revealed the release of their own brand of red wine, “Red Mirror Merlot,” to coincide with the release of their new album, Beyond the Red Mirror. The appropriately named tie-in with Blind Guardian’s upcoming tenth release, definitely gives a whole new meaning to creating album buzz.
Red Mirror Merlot comes from Aragon, a Spanish growing area that has been cultivating wines for well over 2000 years now. This wine has an alcohol content of 14%, and according to Blind Guardian vocalist Hansi Kürsch, it’s delicious:
“We are all passionate red-wine drinkers, and the Red Mirror Merlot has a fantastic taste,” he says. Paired with the new album, he assures “The wine is just as playful and fresh and has the same depth.”
It seems Beyond The Red Mirror is set to be just as interesting as its accompanying beverage. In the making for four and half years already, this album features everything from the talents of multiple choirs to the dynamics of two different grand orchestras. Blind Guardian worked with producer Charlie Bauerfeind (best known for his repertoire with Saxon, Helloween and Hammerfall) at Twilight Hall Studio in Grefrath, Germany.
As of right now, Red Mirror Merlot is only available for delivery in Germany, but you can preorder it here. As for the album, it comes out tomorrowin North America.
