The former Death Metal Allstars are becoming a whole new supergroup. Originally formed in 2008 as a touring death metal band for a small run of shows in Japan, they’re making it official with an album due out in early 2015.
The new band, Devil’s Highway, features vocalist Kyle Thomas (Trouble, Exhorder), guitarist Ralph Santolla (Deicide, Obituary, Death), guitarist Matt Brunson (Crowbar, Kingdom Of Sorrow), bassist Steve DiGiorgio (Testament, Sadus), and drummer Tony Laureano (Dimmu Borgir, Nile).
Said vocalist Kyle Thomas:
“We decided it was so much fun that we should make a real band. Some of my closest friends say this could be the best material I’ve ever been involved with. I’m honoured to be in the mix.”
Guitarist Santolla, who put the project together, said back in 2008 that the touring supergroup would eventually become a real band.
“Yes, this WILL be an ongoing band. We’ve already started writing songs . . . Obviously, when we get our album together, we won’t be called DEATH METAL ALLSTARS. Maybe TONY AND THE DRUNKS. I have no idea. It’s gonna be metal, but not death metal.”
Listen to a track, Blighted House, from the upcoming album, due out in early 2015.
