When Rob Zombie won a Golden God earlier this year for Best Live Performance, we kinda called bullshit on it. Sure, the stage show in and of itself has fun pyro, projections, explosions and gigantic robots and fun things to look at, but at the end of the day Rob Zombie’s a much better frontman than he is a singer. That chorus of people that think that has probably grown by quite a few after last night’s Rock Fest in Cadott, WI, where Zombie cut his headlining set short after only two songs. He apologized to the crowd, cutting “Superbeast” short, addressing the crowd:
“Sorry, everybody. I wish my voice wasn’t so fucked. I knew from the first second we started that it was impossible to get through the show.”
And while Zombie’s obviously a showman and wouldn’t have cut his set short for no reason, the reaction from those attending the show was, not surprisingly, somewhat hostile. The YouTube video is called “FAIL,” for one. Also, comments on his Facebook page are demanding an explanation. “Suck it up rob, I’m a blue collar who works his ass off to see u and u bitch out after one song,” one user commented. “I go to work sick. SUCK IT UP BITCH.” Another comment was from a 20 year fan demanding his money back. We’d presume that an explanation and apology are forthcoming. Zombie was the Sunday headliner of the four day festival. Other performers that day included Stone Sour, P.O.D., Redlight King, Thousand Foot Krutch and Left of Reason.
