For the third time in the band’s career, singer Stephen Pearcy has left Ratt. The band’s last album, 2010’s Infestation, was well-received, and it was thought that the band was working on a new album. While they may be doing so, it will be with a new vocalist. Here’s a statement that Pearcy made:
After 30 years creating the band Ratt and losing a real brother, Robbin, it’s time that I personally part ways with the band. I am officially done with having anything to do with them due to the constant turmoil, unresolved business, personal attacks/threats in the public forum, and most of all, the disrespect to the fans. I’m very content and proud of the legacy and the music I’ve created. This music will live well beyond any of our lifetimes. I owe no one anything but a huge heartfelt thank you for coming to the party for the last 30 years. With much respect, life goes on and the music I created will continue to be heard for years to come despite the dark clouds that have lingered for far too long. I will personally continue to make music and perform live shows. See you out there.
While Pearcy’s resignation has an air of finality to it, the vocalist first left the band in 1992, and then again in 2000 after rejoining in 1996. He’d been playing with them for eight years this time. This leaves Warren DeMartini, Bobby Blotzer and original bassist Juan Croucier, who’d rejoined the band in 2012, in the band along with Carlos Cavazo. It’s unknown who will sing for Ratt if they continue on, but Love/Hate’s Jizzy Pearl and Robert Mason had sung for the band after he’d left in 2000.
