Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week.
Apparently, the only two artists that can stop Five Finger Death Punch from having a number one album are Robin Thicke (as evidenced by Vol. 1‘s release) and Eminem. But something tells us that it won’t stop Vol. 2 from making a lot of sales. And hey! We finally have album sales to show you from bands you actually know! So take a look at the ups and downs from this week.
Notable Debuts:
Five Finger Death Punch, The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell Vol. 2 (Prospect Park) #2, 77,300 sold
This didn’t have as large of a debut as Vol. 1, but considering the success of both albums being on the charts I’m sure the band is going to be just fine.
Rush, Clockwork Angels Tour (Roadrunner) #31, 10,200 sold
The band’s latest live album charted higher than both the bands previous live album in 2011 and the Vapor Trails Remixes from back in September.
A Perfect Circle, Three-Sixty (Virgin) #35, 9,350 sold
This greatest hits compilation isn’t the new album fans may have wanted, but it does well for itself on the charts.
Ghost B.C., If You Have Ghosts (Universal) #77, 5,225 sold
The new EP of covers produced by Dave Grohl gets a solid debut.
Everyone Dies In Utah, Neutral Ground (Tragic Hero)
This is the third album from this Texan post-hardcore group.
Notable Sales:
Avenged Sevenfold, Hail To The King (Warner Bros.) #55, 6,550 sold
Just under 330,000 sold.
Five Finger Death Punch, The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell Vol. 1 (Prospect Park) #61, 6,275 sold
This gets another boost of 26% in light of the release of Vol. 2.
Linkin Park, Recharged (Warner Bros.) #109, 4,000 sold
A 26% drop with over 50,000 sold.
Korn, The Paradigm Shift (Prospect Park) #122, 3,600 sold
Another week or so and this will hit 90,000 sold in total.
Skillet, Rise (Atlantic), #181, 2,300 sold
This rose by 14%.
Nine Inch Nails, Hesitation Marks (Columbia) #176, 2,450 sold
Not far off from 185,000 sold.
Volbeat, Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies (Universal/Republic) #200, 2,150 sold
This rests at #200 with a little under 150,000 sold. Selling as steadily as their last album, but taking much less time to do so.
Our Last Night, Oak Island EP (Self-Released) 650 sold
This is still hanging in there with an 8% drop.
Living Sacrifice, Ghost Thief (Solid State) 550 sold
This doesn’t steal many sales with a 67% drop.
Ayreon, The Theory Of Everything (Inside Out) 440 sold
This found a 56% boost in sales this week. Ayreon, my wayward son.
Righteous Vendetta, The Fire Inside (EBM) 420 sold
As predicted, the band gets some tour sales with a 41% boost.
Gemini Syndrome, Lux (Warner Bros.) 410 sold
This gets a slight boost of 7%, perhaps helped out by the band’s current tour.
Erra, Augment (Tragic Hero) 410 sold
A drop of 26%.
Scar The Martyr, Scar The Martyr (Roadrunner) 400 sold
This will soon be over 8,000 sold. Not much in Slipknot terms, but not bad for ‘band most people have never heard of’ terms.
Toxic Holocaust, Chemistry of Consciousness (Relapse) 400 sold
The smallest boost of 2%.
Glass Cloud, Perfect War Forever (Equal Vision) 380 sold
A 38% drop is a right pain in the (gl)ass.
Russian Circles, Memorial (Sargent House) 370 sold
Just under 5,000 sold.
Melvins, Tres Cabrones (Ipecac) 370 sold
A 48% drop? Bastards.
Get Scared, Everyone’s Out To Get Me (Fearless) 360 sold
No one’s out to get this after a 88% drop.
Kill Devil Hill, Revolution Rise (Century Media) 350 sold
Just under 4,000 sold with a 33% drop.
Fates Warning, Darkness In a Different Light (Inside Out) 340 sold
A small drop of 4%.
Crown The Empire, The Fallout (Rise) 320 sold
A 14% boost for the album that keeps coming back.
Deafheaven, Sunbather (Deathwish) 280 sold
This is just under 16,000 sold. Maybe a boost is coming once other year end lists start coming out.
Eyes Set To Kill, Masks (Century Media) 280 sold
This dropped by 25%.
Warbringer, IV: Empires Collapse (Century Media) 280 sold
If you saw Warbringer at their one-off headlining show in Trenton on Monday, you might consider checking out one of the opening bands: Condition Critical. Also, this totally isn’t a plug or anything.
Thousand Foot Krutch, Made In Canada: The 1998-2010 Collection (Self-Released) 270 sold
This came out a little while back, but got a boost back up.
Pelican, Forever Becoming (Southern Lord) 260 sold
A 18% drop this week.
Earthless, From the Ages (Tee Pee) 340 sold
This is back after an 8% boost, but might not be around much longer.
