When not on the road playing brutal death metal, Jungle Rot bassist Jimmy Genenz and guitarist Geoff Bub work as bartenders. With that in mind, we asked the two to share with us some of their weirdest and heaviest drink concoctions in a new column called Mixing It Up With Jungle Rot.

Genenz kicks things off with four recipes that perfectly compliment Jungle Rot’s new album,

DIABLO ROJO
1 oz. Jaegermeister
1 oz. Peach Schnapps
1 oz. Cranberry Juice

 

 

 

 

 

This drink got its name from the nickname that the cooks in our kitchen at work have called me for a few years now. DIABLO ROJO or “red devil” I guess because of my awesome gingerness.

Basically it’s a Redheaded Slut, mix 1 oz. Jaegermeister, 1 oz. Peach Schnapps and 1oz. Cranberry Juice in a shaker and pour into rocks glass. Get your groove on.

 

FUCK YOU, PATRICK SWAYZE
1 oz. Kaluha
2 oz. Jaegermeister

FUCK YOU, PATRICK SWAYZE is credited to my great friend Eric Erickson who passed last year from Cancer; he was the sound engineer at my bar for a few years and was taken from us way too young. He would always make these afterhours and it just stuck, now it’s a popular one at my bar especially with the regulars, typically consumed with hearty cheers to Eric! Combine 1 oz. of Kaluha and 1 oz. of Jaegermeister into a shaker and shake. Pour into rocks glass and add just a splash of Coke (as Eric would stress, JUST A FUCKING SPLASH!). Raise high and give Cheers to Eric and pound away!

 

THE ABORTION
¾ oz. Peach Schnapps (In shot glass)
¼ oz. Bailey’s Irish Crème (drizzled on top)
Dash of grenadine

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A good conversation starter haha! It’s quite tasty and makes people talk. Give it a try and see the reactions! Fill a shot glass a little more than ¾ full of Peach Schnapps and the slightly top it off slowly with the Baileys. Don’t overdo it, just slightly so it has time to congeal in the Schnapps. You’ll have to visually confirm the results. Top with a dash of grenadine for the somewhat bloody look. It’s always a good time for an abortion! Haha!

 

 

JUNGLE ROT JUICE
2 oz. Jose Cuervo Gold Tequila
2 oz. Midori
4 oz. Sour Mix

 

 

 

 

 

This one is good for the ladies. It’s quite tart but they seem to enjoy it. Again, I too like tart and bitter drinks so this one was a no-brainer. Combine 2 oz. of Cuervo Gold, 2 oz. of Midori, and 4 oz. of Sour Mix in a shaker and shake will, pour into Pint glass filled with ice and serve with Lime garnish. Tasty and easy to make.
