Last month, Alice In Chains revealed the title to their long-awaited follow up to 2009 Black Gives Way To Blue. And not only do we now have the cover artwork for The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here to see, but we also have a few song titles to take a look at.
First, let’s discuss the cover (which was revealed via Twitter). Seen above, we admit that we’re a tad disappointed at its simplicity (though that’s not a bad thing either, per se). Apparently, though, Alice In Chains get a little more risqué with the lyrics. In a cover story with Revolver Magazine, the group supposedly revealed that the title track includes the lyric “The devil put dinosaurs here/Jesus don’t like a queer… No problem with faith, just fear.” In regards to the song/lyric, singer/guitarist William DuVall reportedly told Revolver that “We had to think a bit and discuss what the potential fallout might be. There’s a fine line between provoking and gratuitous offending. And there’s also a fine line between provoking and preaching.”
So far, we’ve only heard one song off of the album called “Hollow.” However, with a release date set for May 28, it should be only a matter of time till we get another taste from The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here. Check out song titles slated to appear on the album below.
