In April, an expanded reissue of the 1995 album Above by Mad Season (which featured members of Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam and Screaming Trees) will be released. But now it looks like previously unreleased demos might be rerecorded by a new group featuring guitarist Mike McCready, drummer Barrett Martin and Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan.
In an interview with Billboard, McCready (best known as Pearl Jam’s guitarist) revealed that he’s been working on a new project with McKagan and the ex-Screaming Trees drummer. “Duff and Barrett and I got together. We wrote some new stuff and we took some of those old Mad Season demos from that [unreleased] second Disinformation record, so we are trying to find something to do with those, said McCready. He also revealed that the plan is to have multiple singers appearing on the album, with Killing Joke’s Jaz Coleman being one of the singers they’re talking to.
As you may recall, this isn’t the first time these three have collaborated. McKagan and McCready previously contributed to the 2012 debut album from Martin’s band Walking Papers. This new project is still nameless, and while it remains unclear as to when it’ll ever see the light of day, the plan is to release it via McCready’s recently launched label Hockeytalkter Records.
