Last week, some of metal’s elite came together for Dimebash, an event held in honor of the late Dimebag Darrell. The night was filled with many special moments, including Dimebag’s former Pantera band mate Rex Brown playing a handful of songs. Another highlight from the show came from Black Sabbath/Heaven & Hell members Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice playing “Mob Rules” with Disturbed’s David Draiman and Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello. While Butler and Appice performing the song is a big deal itself, it’s also pretty awesome to see Morello and Draiman taking part in the performance. Morello did reveal that he loved the song “Mob Rules” during That Metal Show’s tribute to Ronnie James Dio, but it’s still nice to see him playing something different than his normal catalog. And same goes for Draiman, though we’ve seen him belt out some classic rock tunes before.
You can watch video of Butler, Appice, Morello and Draiman performing “Mob Rules” above, while more fan filmed footage from Dimebash 2011 can be seen after the jump.
