Back in August, all signs were pointing to CKY disbanding. However, the band recently announced plans for their “Christmas With CKY” show in Reading, PA on December 18. On top of that, CKY have been confirmed for Australia’s Soundwave Festival in 2012. Could CKY be on the verge of regrouping? Well according to guitarist Chad I Ginsburg, CKY’s fate still doesn’t look too good.
Shortly after announcing the Christmas show, Ginsburg hinted that the show would be their last U.S. show in a tweet last Tuesday (November 22). Three days later, Ginsburg tweeted the following:
“Everyone keeps asking. Fact is,I personally really wish CKY could continue making albums and touring. Deron does not want to continue w CKY.”
The next day (November 26), Ginsburg tweeted the following (along with a link to the video interview that first started the rumblings of CKY’s demise):
“thank you all for your great support but I’m sorry everyone, i’ve tried everything but nothing has changed since this..”
Ginsburg hints at tension between the band and guitarist/singer Deron Miller, which Miller himself made obviously in a Facebook note. However, Miller stated in that same note that Ginsburg had quit CKY while drummer Jess Margera and bassist Matt “Matty J” Janaitis wanted to continue as a three piece. Ginsburg’s tweets, though, seem to sing a different tune.
While lots of things seem to be unclear surrounding the CKY camp, one thing is for sure: their upcoming U.S. Christmas show and Soundwave appearance (which we assume Miller will be present for as well) will be their last for a while (at least with this lineup). Though there may be a chance of CKY moving forward after these shows, it certainly doesn’t look promising.
