At this point, many of you may be asking what the hell we are talking about in the headline. Well last night, shortly after the Metal Masters 2 clinic in NYC, Megadeth bassist David Ellefson revealed some very sad news in an interview with Zakk Wylde for Revolver TV. He said that Megadeth’s set on Wednesday at the Big 4’s Yankee Stadium show was in jeopardy due to a shoulder injury frontman Dave Mustaine sustained during this past Summer’s Mayhem Fest. Ellefson did emphasize that there was still hope and asked fans to pray for Mustaine so that the group could go on to perform.

It was the talk of the pre-show, with Twitter messages and word of mouth spreading around the show, but apparently fans got to praying ASAP because less than an hour after this news broke, multiple sources (including Duff’s Brooklyn bar and Blabbermouth) were reporting that Megadeth were back on for the show. In addition to this, Ellefson posted a video update of him in Times Square somewhat confirming the band’s intention to play Wednesday. It should be noted, though, that an official statement from the band has not been released yet. However the fact that Revolver has since taken down their original report on the possible cancellation is also a good sign.

So while we may still be a bit worried, it’s safe to assume that Mustaine and company will still be performing this Wednesday at Yankee Stadium. Of course many things could change until then (look what happened within an hour!). Thus, we’ll keep you posted as more is revealed. In case you need some reassurance, you can watch Ellefson’s NYC update in the video above.
