Talk of hard rock group Sevendust calling it quits after their next album and tour have been swirling the web after drummer Morgan Rose and singer Lajon Witherspoon hinted at a farewell tour in recent interviews. Rather than letting the rumors spread, though, Morgan went to his Twitter account last weekend to set the record straight. While he confirmed that there is talk about a farewell tour, Morgan made it clear that nothing has been decided.
In his first tweet, Morgan said the following:
“So guys The whole farewell thing is bein ‘talked’ about. we love each other, there’s no issue with us. we just miss our families. no decision yet”
He then sent the following tweet shortly after:
“So try n chill on making it in to something it’s not. we love u guys n we are FOR SURE doing another record n touring it.”
While we don’t want to be the ones who are “making it into something it’s not,” the idea of Sevendust even considering a farewell tour after 14 years of recording music together makes us a little sad. They’ve always been a solid hard rock group who never could get a major break. They’ve gain a strong fan base, mind you, but never quite matched the same success as other nu metal bands did in the late 90’s.
It’s very possible, though, that Sevendust may simply take an extended hiatus rather than calling it quits for good. Either way, this serves as a reminder as to how grueling life on the road can be for musicians and their families. One thing that is for certain, though, is that Sevendust’s appearance on this year’s Uproar Tour won’t be the last chance for fans to catch them live.
