Original Story

Two of music’s most venerable artists, Thorns’ Snorre Ruch and Slagmaur’s General Gribbsphiiser, plus a third related individual, have gone missing after departing for a hike in the mountains of Fosen. The search is currently underway for all three people. Any help from those who are able to join the efforts would be enormously appreciated. As confirmed by Fosen Folket, the Red Cross, fire department, and civil defense have all put their focus toward locating Ruch, the General, and the older woman, whose absence was only reported later.

Dagur Gíslason of Misþyrming shared:

“If you are in Central Norway and able to help, please contact the Chief of Operations at Fosen Fire and Rescue. Please help us share this. We are following the updates in the local newspaper from the peninsula at www.Fosen-folket.no.”

The weather has contributed to the challenge of finding the three, adding also to the necessity of doing so as quickly as possible. The two men, whose car was found at Tjønnstua, departed on Tuesday and were expected to spend the night in the woods. Alarms were raised when they didn’t return home on Thursday morning, as anticipated. Before embarking, General Gribbsphiiser posted a photo of himself with Ruch, prepared for what he described as a boys’ trip. They brought camera equipment for their journey.

The international treasures Ruch and General Gribbsphiiser are close friends and collaborators. While the legendary Ruch is regarded as the co-pioneer of the black metal style of riffing, the multi-talented General Gribbsphiiser is another one of black metal’s greatest figures, always representing unsurpassed artistic integrity and bravery. The ingenious pair have shared developments regarding their newest creative adventures and, for example, held a listening session for Slagmaur’s upcoming masterpiece, Hulders Ritual, in which Ruch participated, at Beyond the Gates. The pride of Fosen, Gribbsphiiser often explores local themes in his work, with Varghiet, which he dubbed “the cursed and forever possessed forest,” playing a special role.

Although we are, of course, extremely concerned, we are sending all of our best thoughts and prayers for the safe return home of all three individuals.
