CKY just did something almost no modern band has the audacity (or algorithmic naivety) to do: they released a new single without telling anyone. “Can’t Stop Running” is their first new single since 2018, and hopefully a sign for a follow-up to 2017’s The Phoenix. It’s a melodic gut-punch: nostalgic enough for longtime fans but evolved enough to prove the band’s not living in reruns. The track sounds like CKY at their most self-aware, confident, catchy, and haunted by the kind of optimism that only comes from surviving the collapse of MySpace, MTV2, and every genre label ever thrown at them.
“This one’s got that perfect happy/sad thing,” says guitarist-vocalist Chad I. Ginsburg, while drummer Jess Margera admits he’s still hyped after hearing it “2,000 times.” The band’s lineup now includes Mike Leon (Soulfly, Havok, Igorrr) on bass, a full-circle addition that feels mythic in the CKY universe.
A video is on the way, and the band is gearing up for a UK + Ireland tour this fall, followed by Australia in early 2026. CKY’s still running, maybe faster than ever.
