Saxon frontman Biff Byford has completed his first round of chemotherapy for bowel cancer. On Friday (12th), Byford shared a video message on the band’s social media, expressing how he’s “feeling pretty good” despite the treatment being “a bit brutal at times.”

Byford expressed:

“It’s Biff here. Just checking in to let you know how things are going. Yeah, so I went through the first chemo. I’m feeling pretty good, actually. A bit brutal at times, but I had a week off, so I’m feeling good now.

Yeah, Belfast is sold out, by the way, so get your tickets bought for the rest of the shows. Everything’s going well. So, yeah, I’m gonna be out getting fit, exercising in a couple of weeks, ready. At the moment, writing the new album. There’s a track playing in the background, actually. If you can listen, check it out.

So, yeah, we’ll see everybody in November. And I’ll give you an update later on, next month, to see how everything’s going. So yeah, keep the faith and peace and quiet. See you soon.”

Byford clarified last month that he was diagnosed with bowel cancer, not prostate cancer as initially implied, and is undergoing a short period of chemotherapy. Some shows have been canceled or postponed, but the singer reassured fans that he plans to return to the stage later this year.
