Release Highlights:
John Cale, POPtical Illusion (Double Six/Domino):
The Velvet Underground co-founder releases his 18th solo album, his second in less than a year.
Annabel, Worldviews (Tiny Engines):
The punk/”emo” band returns with their fourth studio effort after a nine year hiatus. According to their Bandcamp, the album “finds the band reconciling with the ways the world has changed in the decade since they’ve been away.”
The Early November, The Early November (Pure Noise):
The “emo” rock duo release their seventh album. According to the band’s bio, the album “ties the past, present and future all together, and as such, it marks what [frontman Ace] Enders calls a “period or exclamation point in our sentence”. It’s not a new beginning, per se, but nevertheless something emphatic that signifies, in Enders’ words again, “a pivotal moment” for them both.”
Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Blow it…at Madison’s Quinceañera! (Fat Wreck Chords):
The punk rock supergroup cover band that gives popular tracks a hit of punk rock insanity release their second live album, recorded at an actual Quinceañera.
Squid Pisser, Dreams of Puke (SKiN GRAFT):
Featuring Tommy Meehan of Gwar, the band’s second album is described by the band as “an aural DMT trip that will leave brains boggled. Its atonal anthems of slime are a kaleidoscope of brilliant, bespeckled rage that, in the end, will scalp the world & mutate the throne.”
Fu Manchu, The Return Of Tomorrow (At The Dojo):
The stoner rock legends release their 13th studio effort, a double album that splits heavy rock jams and mellower works down the middle.
