Alcest have announced their new album, Les Chants De L’Aurore, will be released through Nuclear Blast Records on June 21st. In addition, the band has revealed they will embark on a European tour set for autumn this year.

To accompany the album announcement, Alcest are streaming their first single, “L’Envol” along with a music video (artwork by Yoann Losel). The song and visuals within the clip capture the essence of nature evoked by Neige (vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter), known for his close ties to spirituality.

The 8:02 min track is an invitation to disconnect from the often-heavy earthly plane and to begin to experience the freedom of being one with nature, to let the air carry oneself, or to sail in unison on placid waters. Musically Alcest’s style is irrevocable, great atmospheric passages are accompanied by a placid voice that explodes together with the whole composition at the end.

Neige Comments:

“‘L’Envol’ is a musical return to the atmosphere of Alcest’s first albums. I wrote this song after an inspiring trip to Corsica, where I met amazing people and was surrounded by some of the most unique landscapes I have ever seen. It is about escaping from earthly reality to join a flock of mythical birds flying through the known boundaries of our world.

The song is accompanied by a music video created by the talented French artist Yoann Lossel, who also designed the album cover. For this first single release, we wanted the music, lyrics and visuals to be as coherent and immersive as possible. All the tracks on Les Chants de l’Aurore are very different from one another, but we thought this one would be a great introduction to the overall atmosphere and themes of the album.”
