Metallica have shared their 2020 Spotify streaming data as part of the yearly Spotify Wrapped, and these metal legends have surpassed one billion streams. 1.1 billion streams, totaling 99.3 million hours from 53.3 million listeners in 92 countries. This is the second year in a row the group has songs that were played over a billion times on the digital streaming platform. Perhaps this year’s Metallica Mondays series had some influence on the numbers.
The group expressed their gratitude with the following statement:
“We thought last year’s numbers were insane… you guys have outdone yourselves! 99.3M hours?! That’s like if someone started listening on October 27, 9318 B.C. and never stopped. Can anyone guess what this year’s most played song was, clocking in at 128.6M streams??
You remain the most dedicated fans in the world – thank you for spending so much of your year with us!”
