Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We caught up with Feed After Midnite bassist Dylan DeRepentigny as he’s been spending this time staying active.

What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?

As a band, we’ve been trying to use this time to work on writing new material. I’ve also been trying to improve as a bassist and become a better musician which is an endless journey. Outside of music I have been trying to focus more time on my family and my kids and trying to keep active.

Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?

I have been trying to focus my attention to listening to a lot of other local Ottawa talent, bands like Sinful Ways, T-Rex Marathon, Horcrux, Eve of Uprise, Wyntr, Sceptr, Danny Van Sceney, and Taming Sari. As to playlists, Taming Sari frontman Warren Meredith has a Spotify Playlist called Indie Canada Rocks.

A lot of people have been spending this time cooking including making their own bread, what food have you been prepping during this time?

At the beginning of quarantine, I was working on my Baking, making Cookies, and Brownies. Since then, I’ve been working on cooking more meals, such as Apple Pork tenderloin, Roast Beef, whole roast chickens, and Turkeys. Breads have definitely been on the to-do list and I’ve promised my wife cinnamon buns.

In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?

Before quarantine my wife and I started slowly getting our 6-year-old son into Harry Potter by reading him the first book and Quarantine has really allowed us to take it to the next level, we’re almost done the entire series with him. I spent some time and really got into the MCU. The TV I’ve been most preoccupied with is the Simpsons, it’s the main reason I was excited to have Disney+

What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?

Put on pants, I know it sounds silly, but the days I dress lazy I feel lazy. I’ve always found mental health as, if not more important than physical heath and now more than ever we really need to focus on staying healthy. We need to be reaching out to one another, I have been finding myself reaching out and getting in touch with old friends and family. Being physically alone doesn’t mean we have to be Isolated, we have great tools (Zoom, FaceTime, Facebook, ETC.) we need to make sure we use them.
