During the L.A. cover band Camp Freddy’s New Years Eve performance at The Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood, California, concertgoers witnessed something that Guns N’ Roses fans never thought would occur. While Axl and Slash still might not be talking to one another, the band’s two former drummers seem to be. Ex-Guns N’ Roses/Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorum introduced his GN’R predecessor Steven Adler onstage for a cover of “Paradise City.” Video of the introduction and performance has been posted online and can be seen above.

It’s pretty astonishing to see the two onstage together since Adler, who was kicked out of GN’R in 1990 for his drug addiction, has had less than kind words for his one-time replacement. “Nothing personal against the guy but he’s like a goddamn drum machine. He’s got no heart; he’s got no soul; he’s got no feel. And as life and the years have shown obviously I’m not the easiest drummer to replace,” Adler claimed in an interview with Ultimate-Guitar.com this past Summer. However, Adler later on apologized to Sorum for his remarks during an interview with Good Day L.A.

This would mark one of many recent mini-GN’R reunions of sorts, the most recent being bassist Duff McKagan joining Axl Rose and his new GN’R onstage in Lodon last October. However, don’t get your hopes up for a full-on reunion of the classic lineup, even though Sorum has stated that he’d be happy to share drumming duties with Adler in the event of a reunion. Apparently, Velvet Revolver is close to finally finding Scott Weiland’s replacement (it’s only taken them over two years). Plus, despite all the time that’s past, Axl still doesn’t appear to be fond of Slash. On a related note, does anyone really care about Velvet Revolver?
