It could be argued that Ghost are on their way to become the next major metal band as they recently booked their first headlining arena shows. The debut sales on their latest effort, Prequelle, hints on this as well. With that said, it’s no secret that Metallica are a fan of these giants, as James Hetfield was spotted jamming out to their tunes.
This leads to last night (14th), when Ghost frontman Tobias Forge (Cardinal Copia) was backed by members of Candlemass and Vargas & Lagola honoring the thrash icons by performing Metallica’s classic song “Enter Sandman.” This performance was when Metallica accepted the Sweden’s Polar Music Prize.

Back in 2016, Bullet For My Valentine drummer Jason Bowld was offered to play for the Swedish giants. He told Altpress how it didn’t feel right for him:
“At the end of 2016, I got asked to join another band, which I didn’t want to do — a band called GHOST. It just didn’t feel right.”
