Las Vegas CBS affiliate, 8 News NOW/Las Vegas Now has reported that Leslie McGourty, a Bonanza High School teacher was arrested last Wednesday (16th) for making threats via text messages about attacking people as well as potentially killing herself at the Life of Agony show on Saturday (19th) at the Beauty Bar. McGourty who is already on bail has allegedly bragged to her friends about her plan to die during her favorite song.
“Imagine knowing exactly the moment you’re going to die. Knowing exactly that your favorite song will be playing. By your favorite band. It’s just too perfect.”
Other messages included her desire to “poke a lot of holes in a lot of people.” She also made several references to well-known domestic terror attacks including the Oct 1st shooter, Stephen Paddock, who killed over 50 people at the Route 91 Harvest festival in Vegas. Her messages seemed serious and fearless as she also mentioned: “I have the means, motive, and brains” as well as “Vegas will lose its luster after me.”
The band, as well as the venue, took this threat seriously as Life of Agony had no choice but to cancel their scheduled show.
