It’s been rewarding watching Atlanta’s Royal Thunder rise up the ranks since the beginning of this decade. After an EP and two albums on Relapse, they made the jump to Spinefarm, who released last year’s awesome Wick. And while drummer Evan Deprima has been with them since their first full length, he appears to have left the band. According to his personal Instagram, it appears that he has parted ways with the group for personal reasons. Based on his statement, it seems he left on amicable terms.

Read Diprima’s message below:

“Wishing @electrictonecult, @wfiore, @_meltoro_, and the rest of the @royalthunder camp the best. I will never forget the times we had, things we saw, and everything we learned together through the years.

It was time for me to move on for my own reasons but I will always be proud of what we accomplished and created together. Love you guys. Thank you to all the fans that have shown the band love from the beginning, I am excited to see and hear the next chapter!”

There’s been no official statement from the band yet about his departure or on who DiPrima’s replacement will be, but the band’s tour with Pinkish Black starts on March 14th, and their run with The Atlas Moth just ended five days ago. Given the relationships the band has built up over the years, we’re sure they’ll have someone awesome lined up.
