Guns N’ Roses have been on quite the tear lately, what with their partial reunion, over a year of touring to mostly sold-out shows, Axl Rose joining AC/DC for a bit, and tour dates that go well into this year. It’s safe to say the band’s gotten their mojo back, and while that hasn’t translated into them announcing they’d be coming out with their first album since 2008’s Chinese Democracy, an interview with guitarist Richard Fortus suggests that they’re working on some riffs. During an appearance on the StageLeft podcast, Fortus said the following:
“We haven’t started recording anything. I mean, when I say that, as far as in the studio, doing an album… We’ve been recording a lot of stuff, just ideas, sort of assembling ideas, but not going into a studio and actually tracking a new record.”
That’s certainly progress. He adds that they’re pretty much planning that the new album would be out, saying “it’s too good not to happen at this point.” Of course, Axl has final say, but it seems like he’s been a completely different (read: much saner) person these days, so it could be a matter of time until we’ve got some new Guns tunes to listen to.
