Last year, we wrote about American Satan, a film co-written and directed by Sumerian Records founder Ash Avildsen. Starring Black Veil Brides frontman Any Biersack and Asking Alexandria’s Ben Bruce, the film is about a band moving to Los Angeles to make it on the Sunset Strip. There was no release date for it at the time, and no trailer, either. In fact, all we had to go on was the following synopsis:
“A young rock band, half from England and half from the US, drop out of college and move to the Sunset Strip to chase their dreams. Living in a van, their passion and talent exceed their means to survive. An enigmatic stranger sees their true potential and emotionally manipulates them during a time of weakness. Caught in the middle of a Faustian deal, their music and controversial altercations end up influencing society beyond anything this century has seen, but can they take back control of their destiny before it’s too late?”
Now there’s at least a short trailer for the film, even if there still isn’t a release date. At a scantthe 30 seconds, doesn’t make the film look that horrible. Avildsen has seen plenty of L.A. stories of bands moving to the city to make it since starting Sumerian 11 years ago, so he’s probably got some interesting stories to tell. Also, one of the dudes from Sons of Anarchy is in it, so it’s got that going for it. His directorial debut, 2015’s What Now, (not to be confused with the Kevin Hart standup film of the same name), was a critical and commercial flop, so perhaps this one will do better.
