Over the weekend, just a few days before the official announcement, this year’s Vans Warped Tour lineup leaked. It was a monstrous leak, surpassing the average 1-3 band rumors and showing that a lot of the bands playing this year were on the heavier side. Festival founder Kevin Lyman didn’t take this news lightly and managed to find the source which resulted in the inevitable job termination. The official announcement has been revealed during a livestream event at the Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL. After a short introduction and trailer of 2017’s Warped Rewind at Sea, Lyman revealed live about the former employee stating:

“Some of you know, some of the lineup was leaked the other day. And I know if you want to work in the music business or anything in life. You know what, hold it inside you for a minute. Unfortunately, we were able to trace the person that leaked.

He continued: Unfortunately the lady was let go from her job. I tried to let her out of it, l really let her own it like “yeah I made a mistake” but then she tried to deny it all.  So if you ever get in the position where you have some information, keep it inside you for a minute. People work really hard to do this.”

With that said, most of the rumors were true and we are in shock as to how heavy this lineup is. This is the 23rd year for the festival, and tracing back over the years we remember Warped Tour was the place to be for punk rock, pop-punk, and emo. If you compare this year’s lineup to say, 2001’s you will see the heavy increase. Back then it was bands like 311, Pennywise, and Guttermouth running the show and Metal was unheard of. This year the volume turns up to 11 with Municipal Waste, Attila, The Acacia Strain, Carnifex, Alestorm, GWAR and more. Hearing GWAR alone has us pumped for this run.
