When you think of Nickelback ,or at least what they look like, you probably think of their Canadian Jesus-looking frontman, Chad Kroeger. As for the rest of the band? You probably couldn’t pick them out of a lineup. Like drummer Daniel Adair, right? That must have been the reasoning behind Florida man Lee Howard Koenig, or as he’d like to be called, Mr. Wooky, who attempted to pass himself off as the drummer when ordering $25,000 worth of drum equipment in Austria. Police detective Paul Griffith was on the case, TCPalm reports:

“Essentially, when he placed the order in Austria, I guess at this level of band … you have a lot of people that work for you,” Griffith said Wednesday. “One of the people in his group thought it was out of the ordinary when they were getting contacted as to confirming the order.”

Nickelback, however, has their own security specialist, who contacted police to tell them that the drummer’s name was used when trying to order the equipment. Police detective Paul Griffith, as well as Adair himself, looked into things and tracked Koenig to his home in Port St. Lucie, which is where he’d ordered the drum equipment from. One break in the case was that Adair doesn’t live in Florida. Another was that when looking at web sites (including Mr. Wooky’s), Adair found that the scam artist’s drum set was the same configuration as his.

Wooky was released from the St. Lucie County Jail yesterday on $18,750 bail. It should be noted that this isn’t the first time he’s been in trouble with the law. In 2009, he was ordered to spend three years in prison and repay $78,000 after throwing a benefit concert for a humane society and taking off with the money.

Also, Epic and Sony might want to look into the fact that his Facebook page says that he’s a “Sony/Epic session touring and multi-platinum award-winning drummer.” He claims to have toured with Beach Boys, Bertie Higgins, Rick Derringer, Billy Joel, Tito Puente and the SNL band,” and have two gold and two platinum albums. Sure, buddy. Just like you drum for Nickelback.
