It’s pretty unbelievable that Six Feet Under will be celebrating their 25th anniversary next year. And it’s not like the band is stagnant, either, as they’ve announced February 24th as the release date for Torment, their 16th album and third in as many years. Today, the band unveiled a new song, as well as a teaser of another song. “Sacrificial Kill” is exactly what you’d expect from the band. It’s not like they’re about to reinvent the wheel, and why should they? You’re getting super-riffy downtuned metal along with Chris Barnes’ gurgly vocals. Anyone that’s followed along with the band will enjoy this, and if you’re expecting the band to turn like, djent or something, you clearly haven’t been paying attention.
In addition, Barnes mentioned via Twitter that their classic love song “Fucked With A Knife” has a song on a new album that’s lyrically a sequel to that song, “something to do with stained and soiled panties.” Apple Music has the album’s track listing, and now we know that we’ve got “Bloody Underwear” to look forward to, along with a track called “Knife Through the Skull.” Charming! Via Instagram, he also teased a snippet of one of the other tracks:
Torment will be released on February 24th. It can be pre-ordered here.
