Mastodon aren’t shy about telling people that they’ve got a new album coming early next year. But until yesterday, we hadn’t heard any of it. Yesterday, Brent Hinds posted an Instagram of him playing a failed solo from the new album. It’s kind of awesome that he’ll post his mistakes and isn’t intent on appearing perfect. Also, the solo sounds amazing, even if it didn’t work out to his and the band’s expectations. The band’s failed attempts are better than most peoples non-failed attempts. Still no release date, but the band’s label sent out a press release stating that the band was almost done with the record, so it’s got to be getting at least semi-official.
