It’s no surprise that pop stars borrow from metal trends when designing merch and logos. Justin Bieber got logo designer Mark Riddick to make logos of his name for his Purpose tour. Rihanna unveiled a death metal logo at the MTV Video Music Awards. Girlfriend-beater Chris Brown has been seen in a leather jacket that repped bands like Cro-Mags and Municipal Waste, and the list goes on and on.
Well, if you caught Beyonce on her Formation tour (hey, we’re not judging), you were able to pick up your very own Slayer-inspired pin from her. The “Slayonce” pin was sold exclusively on the tour, and while our contact there didn’t know exactly how much the pin went for at the concert, it looks like they’re asking $40 for it on eBay. This past Friday was the last date of her current trek, so if she doesn’t come back, you might have to throw down some after-market dollars to rep Slayer and Queen Bee at the same time. Or you can also wonder about how the worlds of pop and extreme metal have gotten close enough to each other for a superstar to reference a thrash metal band and have it work. It’s hard to imagine Slayer signing off on this, but they haven’t been all the shy about licensing their name to stuff in the past.
