With the impending release of Hardwired… To Self Destruct, 2016 is shaping up to be quite a year for the Big 4, with three of the four bands releasing albums this year. Throw in last year’s release of Repentless, and all four bands have had a pretty busy year (fun fact: the only year that Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax all released an album was 1988). With For All Kings having come out earlier this year, yesterday, Anthrax stopped by Late Night with Seth Meyers, marking one of the few times a metal band has played his show (as opposed to a drummer – Mastodon’s Brann Dailor sat in for a week). The band sounded great, and Meyers’ studio was impressively lit. In fact, the main guest was Robert De Niro, making the whole show very New York-centric.

And in Metallica news, now that we’ve heard the lead single from the new album and are less than three months away from the whole thing, they’re not being shy about letting a little more out. In a short trailer for the album, about two minutes into the trailer, a snippet of another song, “Moth Into Flame,” is heard. It’s not enough to figure out exactly what the song is all about, but we’ll probably be hearing more of the song before the album is out.
