Korn promised changes for their 12th album, stating it would be heavy, and that it would be on a new label. It’s first single, “Rotting In Vain,” is out now, and it’s certainly heavy. The track is the first taste of their new album, The Serenity of Suffering, and while it will be on a new label, it will also be on an old label, as the band are returning to Roadrunner Records. The video, starring Sons of Anarchy‘s Tommy Flanagan, is set in a run-down house and finds the actor huffing some oxygen which makes the band appear. As far as the song, if you’re a fan of the band’s Follow the Leader era, you’ll enjoy this. Jonathan Davis not only yells more than he has in a while in parts, but he also does that “Falling Away From Me”/”Twist” scat singing thing.
The Serenity of Suffering will be out on October 21, and Korn will be on the road until the album comes out, both with Rob Zombie (that tour is currently happening) and Breaking Benjamin (which starts on September 24th)
