eric churchSince the last few months of 2015, we have been reporting on unfortunate demise of too many artists in our world. We’ve suffered the loss of Motorhead’s Lemmy Kilmister, former Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland, and many others. Those left behind have done all sorts of tributes to the late musicians and those tributes transcend genres, as country star Eric Church recently proved.

During the latest ACM (Academy of Country Music) Awards, Church performed his song “Record Year” and during his set, he paid tribute to some of the musicians we recently lost, including David Bowie, The Eagles’ Glenn Frey, Lemmy and Scott Weiland, by playing snippets of some of their songs. You can watch the short video footage below.

It’s no surprise that any musician would pay their respect to Bowie and Glenn Frey, but rock and metal requires a specific taste, and Church is to be commended for that. That being said, he’s been involved with the devil’s music for a while, having played Metallica’s Orion Music + More Fest and taking the stage to Clutch’s “Electric Worry.”

Even if you’re not a fan of country music, you have to admire the guy for tipping his hat to those who deserve it.
