As a noted musician herself, Carrie Brownstein is probably underwhelmed by meeting fellow artists. The Sleater-Kinney singer/guitarist and star of Portlandia has seen her share of musicians appear on the show, and while they’re mostly of the indie rock variety, many were thrown for a loop when it was announced that Glenn Danzig would appear on an upcoming episode. In an interview with Rolling Stone surrounding the release of her memoir, Hunger Makes Me a Modern Girl, Brownstein was asked about Danzig’s appearance on the show, and unlike Neil Dalton, she has nothing but good things to say about Danzig:
He was amazing. We’ve had a lot of guest stars on the show, including people that are arguably more famous than Danzig, but I’ve never seen a collective enthusiasm greater than when we had him on set. He’s really smart, and very Jersey — and he can make fun of himself, which is one of the most endearing qualities for anyone in this day and age of incessant narcissism and solipsism.
Danzig certainly doesn’t seem to have much of a sense of humor during interviews. Or with many people that take his picture. But we’re glad to see he can keep it together for Brownstein and Fred Armisen. There’s no word yet on when the episode featuring him will air.
