There’s nothing trendy about Boston band Worshipper. The quartet, who’s Tee Pee debut Shadow Hymns was released last year, are an unapologetic rock band with riffs in place of gimmicks. The band won “Metal Artist of the Year” at the Boston Music Awards in 2015 and 2016, as well as taking home the championship at The World Series of Boston Rock last year. Now the band have released a video for standout track “Darkness.” The video is mostly performance, but also has psychedelic imagery, with the band playing against a background of trippy images projected on them. As for the song, it could have come out in the mid-’70s alongside Rainbow and UFO or in the mid-’90s in the middle of a triple-bill with Monster Magnet and Corrosion of Conformity.
Shadow Hymns is out now on Tee Pee Records and can be picked up here.
