Avett on FallonWho says all genres aren’t crossable? Certainly not Jimmy Fallon. In fact, he has come up with a genius idea to market top-selling folk rock band The Avett Brothers as a metal covers act.

The mock informercial for The Avett Brothers Sing Heavy Metal shows The Avetts covering Metallica’s “One,” “Run to the Hills” by Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man.” Fallon has also “discovered” some new bands in the metal world while selling the other tributes that could be heard on the new album. He also shouts out Morbid Angel, which might be the first time their name’s been uttered on late night television.

The clip, shown on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night, will either leave you craving some more metal folk, urging this project to be the biggest album of 2013, or appreciating the intricacies of those who perform within their own genre even more. Make up your mind by watching below.
