While the lineup for the 2013 Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival hasn’t been announced yet, we’re hearing from a reliable source that Jane’s Addiction, Alice In Chains, Coheed & Cambria and Circa Survive will be among those playing this year’s incarnation of the Festival.
It would definitely make sense for Alice In Chains, as their highly anticipated The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here will be out next month, and a high profile late Summer tour would give the album continued exposure. Coheed and Cambria toured with Circa Survive several years ago, and both bands appeal to fans of progressive music, but have enough mainstream crossover to sell tickets. And Jane’s Addiction pretty much started the modern day alternative/rock festival tour 22 years ago with Lollapalooza.
Either way, Uproar isn’t saying anything yet. Their website simply says that “cities and dates are coming soon” and doesn’t even say anything about bands. Last year’s featured Shinedown, Godsmack, Staind and Papa Roach among others. If 2013’s incarnation turns out to feature the above bands, it’ll be slightly more niche than last year’s pretty mainstream lineup, bringing in Gen Xers that liked ’90s modern rock as well as prog fans.
