Late last year a new Fear Factory album was rumored to be released sometime in 2017. However, the closest piece of concrete new material is guitarist Dino Cazares’ hint at a solo record, and things have been oitherwise silent on the Fear Factory front. When Danzig’s Blackest of the Black festival revealed their initial lineup, they were mentioned as one of the bands playing. One day later, the band was removed from the lineup with no real explanation. No one seemed to think anything otherwise about this until yesterday.

According to former bassist  and guitarist Christian Olde Wolbers’ Instagram, the industrial metal legends could be done for.

It should be noted that Wolbers hasn’t played in Fear Factory for eight years. He’s currently in Powerflo, and while he was in the band for sixteeen years, it’s not like he should be counted as an authority on Fear Factory in 2017, especially since he and drummer Ramond Herrera are currently involved in a “huge legal battle” against the  band and no one else in Fear Factory has officially (or unoficially) said anything about their alleged split. The most recent update from the band was in March via a drawing from frontman’s Burton C Bell’s brother’s son. It’d be unfortunate if this was the band’s epitaph. We’ve reached out to Fear Factory’s PR reps and will update if we hear back.
