GWAR plays Kansas and Billy Ocean covers for The A.V. Club
It’s a testament to GWAR’s popularity that much like Fallon, they were asked to return to The A.V. Club’s “Undercover” series. The series, presented by The Onion offshoot, asked bands to come to their offices and cover a series of songs, with each song getting crossed off the list after a band covered it. In 2012, GWAR were left with Kansas’ “Carry On Wayward Son,” and hit it out of the park, also debuting new guitarist Pustulus Maximus. They handily won the viewers choice for the best cover, and were asked to come back the following year, where they did a cover of Billy Ocean’s “Get Out of My Dreams, Get Into My Car.”
