We were a bit surprised to hear that Behemoth’s Adam “Nergal” Darski was rumored to have signed on as a judge for the Polish version of The Voice. And apparently, the UK edition of the hit American singing contest has been trying to snag Bruce Dickinson as a judge in an attempt to compete against other shows like The X Factor. Luckily, though, there is a metal god and he too isn’t a fan of reality TV.
According to British tabloid The Sun, the legendary Iron Maiden frontman has turned down the BBC’s offer to be a judge on The Voice UK edition. And just in case you were afraid that Dickinson was even remotely interested in the job, he reportedly had the following to say about the show:
“That show sounds so crap and demeaning to everyone involved, I took great delight in turning the BBC down.
The X Factor is appalling enough, it’s no better than Opportunity Knocks.”
Guess we don’t have to worry about Dickinson changing his mind about reality TV at any point. This also saves us from hearing contestants butcher Maiden songs in an attempt to woo the judge (though the kid from Sweden’s Idol did a decent job with “Run To The Hills”). If the UK edition really wants metal cred, maybe Rob Halford would be available. The Judas Priest singer obviously has no qualms with reality TV.
