Last month, The Dillinger Escape Plans shocked fans by announcing guitarist Jeff Tuttle’s departure. While the band has yet to announce a replacement, it appears that they might be rejoined by a familiar face.
Yesterday, guitarist Ben Weinman posted the picture above of him and former guitarist Brian Benoit on Facebook. Along with the image, Weinman included the caption “@keap56 #dillingerescapeplan.” Could Weinman be hinting that Benoit is rejoining the band?
As fans will recall, Benoit left the band in 2004 following the release of Miss Machine due to nerve damage in his hand. This past November, though, the band was rejoined onstage by Benoit. While singer Greg Puciato shot down talk of Benoit’s return following that performance, the band has always left the door open for Benoit to return in the event he’s able to perform live. Plus, Weinman has actually been the only guitar player on most of The Dillinger Escape Plans’ releases since Benoit’s departure.
At this moment, The Dillinger Escape Plan have yet to confirm or deny Benoit’s return. However, if a picture (and caption) can say a thousand words, it looks likely that Benoit will be rejoining his bandmates in some fashion.
