France held its first-ever award ceremony dedicated to heavy metal, Les Foudres 2025, on Thursday (9) at the Bataclan in Paris. The event recognized the best in French metal with 12 awards, including honors for artistry, live performance, and social commitment.

Gojira took home the Foudre d’Honneur and Live Performance of the Year for their standout set at the Carcassonne festival. Landmvrks earned Artist of the Year and Album of the Year for The Darkest Place I’ve Ever Been, while Revnoir was named Revelation of the Year, and Hellfest won Event of the Year.

Hosted by comedian Thomas VDB, the ceremony featured live performances from Carpenter Brut and Revnoir, and was broadcast on France 4 and france.tv. Executive director Arnaud Maillard noted the event’s goal: to finally give France’s thriving metal scene the recognition long denied by mainstream awards.
