3. 28 Days Later (2002)

I suppose in many ways, 28 Days Later is an ode to Day of the Dead’s hopelessness. Existential themes arise about the will to carry on as a human race with such horrific forthcoming prospects. These “infected” are more dangerous than classic zombies we are familiar with. They run full sprint in a mob and only have to spew their disease in one of you’re orifices to intern you into their swarm. This makes them 10 times scarier than regular zombies. Chances of survival? Next to none. 28 Days Later launched Danny Boyle and Cillian Murphy’s career and reinvented the entire genre. Don’t watch this one before bed.
